Some thoughts on training

I read on the Nike Running site that hills can be our best friends. I find that hard to believe since I find them incredibly tough, but the logic behind it makes sense. If you get used to running up hills, it makes flat stretches seem that much easier. I thought back to Juniper Park where the sledding hill is. That would be great for doing some cross country style hills. Not sure if there is anyplace like that in Dale City. Have to keep my eyes peeled. My other thought was to run down to Trentdale and run up the hill to Hoadley Road and back down again and continue that for a mile or so. That's a pretty steady hill, so I think it will help with my overall endurance.

The other day I asked Skip (Smith) about what he was doing to train for next years Warrior Dash. He told me he was going to do more cardio and more push ups. I want to start doing 100 pushups a day and incorporate either burpees or rope jumping into my plan as well. I would also like to try to ride my bike more. I want to try to go for a ride this Saturday or Sunday to see how far I can comfortably ride. If I can make it 10 miles or so, I may get a bike rack and start riding with the group at work. This way I can exercise while at work and not take away time at home.
