Last night, I increased my mileage to 2.5 miles and added some hills. I started out walking for about .25 of a mile. I walked out of the house and walked down towards Jennifer and Jonathan's house. When I reached the corner of Thrift and Trentdale, I began to run and turned down the first set of townhouses on Torchlight Drive. I realized after I was about half way down the street, that the street was a court and a dead end. I ran down about 3/4 of a way, then headed back up and further down Trentdale. I made it to the top of Trentdale to the corner of Hoadley and decided to do some hill training. So I walked down the hill and sprinted back up towards Hoadly. When I reached the top, I walked back down and sprinted up again. Each section of the hill was about .10 of a mile up and another .10 down. I walked back down, then jogged back up and turned left onto Hoadly Road, and ran till I was about .10 of a mile from the corner of Dale Blvd. I walked to catch my breath, then trudged on till I hit the corner of Trentdale Drive. I turned down and headed into the neighborhood. I made the mistake of going back up Thrift instead of taking Tango. Thrift is a lot more uphill. I ran past our house, up to the corner until I hit 2.5 miles. I cooled down by walking around the block.

The weather was nice and cool, so it was a nice night to run. I notice that I typically have trouble getting started, but once I get warmed up, I run pretty well. Ultimately I would like to be able to run 3.1 miles in under 30 mins. I think those short .10 of a mile walk breaks I take help my time overall. When I try to grit my way through and my jog slows down to a crawl, I seem to move slower than when I walk briskly.

A quick update to my bike troubles from the night before. Last night Rachel was cleaning up the garage and she went to move bike and noticed the front wheel wasn't moving very smoothly. It felt like it was stuck. Turns out that one of the front brake pads was stuck and preventing the front wheel from spinning freely. We tried to fix it, but couldn't get it figured out. That probably explains why I had so much trouble climbing hills and pedaling in general.
