Had another descent run tonight. It was a hot day, with a high temperature of 97. Luckily by the time I ran, it was down to 84, but still humid. Got a bit of a late start, so I finished my run in the dark.

I walked for about 3-4 minutes before I started my run. I worked my way down thrift and when I hit Trentdale, I started jogging. I made it up the hill and out onto Hoadly Road. I continued down Hoadly and turned on Dale Blvd. I ran down past the townhouses and turned back when I had about 10 minutes remaining. My run finished just before I got back to the house. I ended up sprinting the final 45 seconds or so. I was impressed at the acceleration and speed I was able to achieve.

I struggled a bit with the heat. I stopped once at 20 mins and then had to stop again for a minute at 25 minutes. I was drenched in sweat when I got home. My shirt felt like I had worn it in the shower.

The walk a the beginning of the run didn't really seem to help much. I used Nike+ on my phone as always and put on my old Garmin Forerunner GPS. There was a rather significant discrepancy in the distance and calories burned. Nike+ said I ran 2.64 miles, Garmin says I ran 2.71. Nike+ said I burned 286 calories, the Garmin said I burned 340. Not sure which one I should believe. I would like to think the Forerunner is right.

One other benefit to running that I found is my ability to hold my breathe underwater at the pool. I seem to be able to hold my breathe way longer than I remember. The other night I went under and asked Rachel to hold her breathe with me as long as she could. She popped up after about 35 seconds or so, I didn't even feel stressed like I was running out of air.
